News Item:
Jeb Bush Declares Gays Should Not Be Allowed To Adopt

Campaigning for a new term as governor, in the state with the only blanket prohibition on homosexual's adopting children, Jeb Bush declared his support for the ban. His statements came during a debate with his challenger, Democrat Bill McBride, who supports repealing the ban. McBride said that the policy amounted to discrimination and said, "it's not the American way and it's not the right way."

Bush's statement came after a flap over jokes the governor made, about the presumed sexual orientation of a foster care mother. Talking to a group of republican officials from Pensacola, Bush said: "As [Pamela Graham] was being arrested, she told her co-workers, 'Tell my "wife" I've been arrested.' The wife is the grandmother, and the aunt is the husband", making quotation marks with his fingers around "grandmother." Then the governor added, "Bet you don't get that in Pensacola."

Two days after the debate with McBride, Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle Bush was sentenced to ten days in jail for violating the terms of her drug treatment program. She had been caught smoking crack cocaine within the confines of her treatment facility. Neither Governor Bush, nor his wife Columbia, attended the sentencing.
