This is another from the "First Time Love" series I did in the mid 1980s, and also
one that I am very proud of. Like the others it is charcoal and ink and ink wash
on heavy Strathmore board. I added some touches of white gouache on the foreground
rocks.
Two young lovers embrace in a secret place with a stunningly beautiful scenic
view that they discovered together while walking an unknown wilderness trail.
Here they experience mutual love and desire for the first time, while a vast and
beautiful landscape that represents all the possibilities and wonders of their
adult lives together is presented to them by the morning light.
