NEWS ITEM: The Massachusetts Statehouse suddenly reverses itself after criticism from the state supreme court, which conceeded that it didn't have the power to force a vote, and allows a vote to proceed on the proposed anti same-sex marriage amendment. Needing only 1/4 of the representatives to approve it, because it is a voter initiative, it easily passes.

The amendment needs to be approved by the statehouse once more. Then the right of gay and lesbian citizens of Massachusetts to marry will be put to a simple majority vote.
